Mission: Chennai Justice Resource Centre (CJRC) strengthens organizations that secure freedom, justice and restoration for the marginalized, oppressed and neglected poor in the City of Chennai. CJRC seeks to serve and support NGO's, churches, small businesses, government agencies and development organizations focusing on (a) eradicating human trafficking, (b) empowering the marginalized urban poor, and (c) ensuring access to justice.
Access to Training. CJRC provides training to organizations on effective stategies for protecting human rights and promoting transformational development for the marginalized, oppressed and neglected poor in Chennai. Access to Professional Services. CJRC facilitates the delivery of pro bono professional services (free and reduced fee) to strengthen organizations. The services include organizational development, strategic planning, legal assistance, investigation services, rights-based development programming, microfinance and other financial services, IT services, fundraising, communications and human resource management. Access to Funding. CJRC identifies and mobilizes financial resources for organizations working for justice, including seed funds, grants, loans and equity investments available through various donors and investors. Access to Other Resources. CJRC maintains an online resource library of case studies, practice tools and management resources for organizations promoting justice in Chennai. CJRC seeks to serve and support NGO's, churches, small businesses, government agencies and development organizations focusing on (a) eradicating human trafficking, (b) empowering the marginalized urban poor, and (c) ensuring access to justice. Eradicating Human Trafficking. Every year, numerous men, women and children in the City of Chennai fall victim to human trafficking including sex trafficking, bonded labour, child labour and other forms of forced labour. CJRC works with organizations rescuing and restoring victims of human trafficking. Empowering the Marginalized Urban Poor. Urban slums are often places of abuse and oppression. The neglected poor populations (orphans, windows, victims of HIV, etc.) are particularly prone to discrimination and ill-treatment. CJRC supports organizations protecting the rights and improving the quality of life of these marginalized poor men, women, and children. Ensuring Access to Justice. Access to legal counsel and fair legal process is a fundamental requirement of a just society. CJRC strengthens organizations working to secure legal counsel and other legal services for the poor and oppressed.
